Already several years Riga Secondary School No.25 has participated in various EU-based Erasmus projects. Since 2016 our school has been participating in project "Active Citizens of Europe". The project is focused on young people successful cooperation, the EU and the problems in Europe 2020 objectives. Young people from different countries - Latvia, Croatia, Finland, Spain, and Italy - are involved in this project. Within the framework of the project, together with the teachers, we went to Zagreb (Croatia), Sippo (Finland) and this February we went to Cordoba (Spain). The last project was to stage the story "The Right Decision", in which we showed how one minor choice changes our lives. At first, we got the story in English, so we translated it into the Latvian language. Then we split the roles and started the rehearsals. If the text was forgotten, we learned how to improvise and speak in front of the public. After many attempts in the evenings, we showed the story to former school teachers. Then we began to prepare for a long trip to Cordoba, where the show was shown to a much larger audience.

On the show day, everything went as planned and no one forgot their text. After a successful show, we went to the restaurant to celebrate.
On Saturday, February 17th, everyone with a smile on their face, some with tears in the eyes, hugged each other and said goodbye, then by bus we went to Malaga airport, from where we went back to Frankfurt and only late at night we were back home in Latvia. We all made new friends and already promised to meet sometime, we certainly will not lose contact and we are very happy with this unique experience!

On the morning of February 11, we met and traveled to the airport by school bus, then we flew to Frankfurt, from there to Malaga and then by bus to Córdoba. We were very tired and when we got to our host family houses, we fell asleep instantly. The nights were surprisingly cold, but in the day we enjoyed the warm sun. Every day we rehearsed a lot, and each of us pushed themselves to be as good as professional actors on the day of the show, although for many it was the first time on a big stage. At the free time, we all made new friends and saw the city`s most beautiful places. We were pleasantly impressed by the Córdoba Mosque, where we saw how different ages and styles intertwine in architecture and art. In our host families, we became acquainted with the culture and dishes of the South, as well we taught our foreign friends about some Latvian dishes and culture! A big surprise for us, the northerners, were the citrus trees in the streets and gardens. Despite the fact that there was a language barrier, we were able to have fun and help each other when needed.
